Bring it on Brum! is a programme funded by the Department for Education designed for families in Birmingham to help children, young people and their families have fulfilling, active, fun-filled and healthy school holidays.

Abi’s Kitchen has proudly supported Bring It On Brum (BIOB), delivering nutritional education workshops to activity providers working with children and young people across Birmingham. These workshops are designed to be inclusive, practical, and engaging, using hands-on learning through touch, smell, and taste to help participants build positive relationships with food.

The sessions focus on developing food knowledge, encouraging healthier choices, and increasing confidence around nutrition in a way that is accessible and age-appropriate. Abi’s Kitchen works closely with providers to ensure content aligns with programme aims and supports wider wellbeing outcomes.

In addition to educational delivery, Abi’s Kitchen is also part of the Recommended Food Provider for community organisations delivering HAF projects, contributing to the preparation and provision of lunches for underserved communities. This work reflects a wider commitment to tackling food inequality and supporting young people through nutritious, balanced meals.

Andeep delivers this work with a consistently high level of professionalism. Her communication with providers, and partner organisations is clear, timely, and well-organised, ensuring sessions are planned and delivered smoothly. She engages confidently with both children and adults, adapting her delivery to suit different settings and audiences, and is well regarded for her approachable manner and reliable delivery

We have been working with Supply Heroes for several months, delivering workshops in schools across Birmingham that focus on healthy eating and exploring new foods. The sessions encourage children to engage with ingredients through smell, touch, and taste, helping them build confidence and curiosity around food.

These workshops offer interactive cooking experiences where participants are actively involved in preparing ingredients and creating simple dishes together. This hands-on approach has proven particularly engaging for younger participants, many of whom are trying certain foods for the first time. At the end of each session, participants share and enjoy the dish together, gaining a strong sense of achievement and pride in what they have helped made.

Once again, a massive thank you from Supply Heroes and a personal thank you from myself for today’s activities!

I’m grateful I could be a part of it and I know for sure all of the children had a fantastic time. You’re control of the classroom and ability to engage the children was excellent and we wouldn’t ask for anything different in the enrichment time you provide to these children. As I mentioned to you, I wasn’t a child who enjoyed school particularly, but lessons like this really fulfil your time in school and keep you motivated to succeed academically, I know today and going forward you will be impacting young lives through your work. Credit to you!

‘Thank you so much for such a lovely cooking workshop. The children absolutely loved it and were so engaged from start to finish. They learned lots of new skills and worked so safely and confidently, and it was a real joy to see their enthusiasm grow as the session went on.

The vegetable curry was a huge success — genuinely delicious — and we were amazed (and very impressed!) that every single child ate and enjoyed every single mouthful. That alone says so much about the experience.

Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to Andeep for leading the workshop so brilliantly. She connected so well with the children and made the whole session feel relaxed and fun. It was a really great experience for them.’
